Redfield outscores Lake Norden-Badger for 21-19 victory

REDFIELD – No lead was safe as Redfield topped Lake Norden-Badger 21-19 in American Legion baseball action Monday night.

Redfield built a five-run lead, eventually fell behind by seven, regained a four-run lead and then held off a late rally to record the wild win.

Redfield opened the game with five hits in a five-run first inning, as Peyton Osborn, Nolan Gall and Elliott Komraus each drove in runs.

Lake Norden-Badger took a brief 6-5 lead in the top of the third, two coming in on Turner Stevenson’s double.

Redfield jumped back ahead 8-6 with three runs in the bottom half of the third, two scoring on a double by Eli Morrissette.

Lake Norden-Badger then exploded for nine runs in the top of the fourth to grab a 15-8 advantage. Stevenson, Kamden Keszler and Rylan Thue each knocked in runs, while errors contributed to others.

The hosts chipped away at the deficit with three runs in the bottom of the fourth as Osborn and Keaton Rohlfs plated runs, then after Lake Norden-Badger added two more runs, Redfield added four more runs in the bottom of the fifth to cut the deficit to 17-15.

Redfield tied the game in the sixth on Gall’s RBI hit, and then took the lead on an error before Gall stole home to put the home team ahead 20-17. Osborn added one more run with a solo homer before Lake Norden mounted one last threat.

The visitors scored twice and had the tying runners on base before a pop out ended the contest.

Camden Osborn, Peyton Osborn and Morrissette each had three hits for Redfield, while four others had two hits. Gall knocked in four, and Peyton Osborn drove in three and scored five times. Gall struck out seven batters in five innings of relief.

Thue topped Lake Norden-Badger with four hits. Dawson Noem, Cristhian Rodriguez and Stevenson each added three. Stevenson also plated three runs and scored four times.
