CLAREMONT – Groton put together a pair of 10-run innings to fuel a 22-5 win over Claremont in American Legion baseball action Tuesday night.

After Claremont jumped on top 3-0, thanks in part to Will Cutler’s two-run home run in the first inning, Groton responded with 10 runs in the third inning.

Cole Simon and Bradin Althoff each had two run-producing hits in the frame. Colby Dunker, Cade Larson and Braxton Imrie also drove in runs.

Groton also scored 10 runs in the fifth inning, nine of them coming after two outs. Althoff tripled to start the uprising and scored on an error on the play. He later added a base-loaded double in the inning.

Simon, Dunker, Brevin Fliehs, Ryan Groeblinghoff and Logan Ringgenberg also drove in runs in the fifth.

Althoff finished the night with five hits, drove in five, and scored three times. Simon added three hits, four RBI and scored twice. Fliehs followed with three hits, and Larson knocked in three.

Cutler had three hits and drove in four, including Claremont’s runs in the third and fifth frames.
