REDFIELD – Redfield scored at least four runs in three different innings to help power an American Legion baseball doubleheader sweep over Faulkton Tuesday night. Redfield had a five-run frame in a 6-2 first-game victory, and back-to-back four-run innings on the way to an 8-3 win in the nightcap.
After Faulkton took a one-run lead in the top of the third in the opener, Redfield responded with five runs in the bottom half of the inning. Keaton Rohlfs had a two-run single, and Erik Salmen and Kevin Weller sandwiched RBI singles around an error that also produced a run.
Both squads scored once in the fifth for the final margin of difference. Gavin Hannan stole home for the Faulkton run, while Seth Siebrecht drove in Redfield’s run.
Rohlfs, Salmen and Siebrecht each had a pair of hits for Redfield. Nolan Gall struck out seven batters in six innings, before Eli Morrissette fanned a pair of batters in one inning of relief.
Faulkton jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the second game as well when Layne Cotton had an RBI single in the top of the first. However, Redfield plated four runs in both the first and second innings.
Owen Osborn and Rohlfs each had run-scoring singles, and Elliott Komraus drew a bases-loaded walk to highlight the first inning, and Gall produced an RBI single in the second with other runs coming in on a wild pitch, error and ground out.
Cotton later added a two-run double for Faulkton, but it wasn’t enough to overcome the seven-run deficit.
Redfield stole 10 bases during the twinbill.
Osborn and Gall both had two hits and scored twice for Redfield, which improved to 17-7 on the season.
Cotton finished with two hits and drove in three for Faulkton.
