Golden Eagles record another volleyball sweep

RAPID CITY – Aberdeen Central claimed its second sweep in as many matches Friday with a 25-16, 25-18, 25-14 road win over Rapid City Central in non-conference volleyball action.

The Golden Eagles led its attack from the service line, racking up a dozen aces in the contest. Ayrlie Waldo, Grace Kuch and Alivia Miller finished with three aces apiece.

“We had a couple kids go on some nice serving runs,” said Central coach Jackie Bindenagel.

Kuch, in addition to her service efforts, also finished with 14 digs and six kills for the Golden Eagles. Lauryn Burckhard paced the Golden Eagles at the net with eight kills. Waldo tallied 18 assists, as well.

The Eagles will be back in action today, taking on Rapid City Stevens to wrap up the week.

Serving: Aberdeen Central 64-74 12 aces (Ayrlie Waldo 22-24 3 aces, Grace Kuch 9-10 3 aces, Alivia Miller 8-10 3 aces).

Hitting: Aberdeen Central 72-89 26 kills (Lauryn Burckhard 15-18 8 kills, Kuch 17-23 6 kills).

Setting: Aberdeen Central 76-78 23 assists (Waldo 43-45 18 assists).

Digs: Aberdeen Central 37 (Kuch 14, Sawyer Bahr 11).

Blocks: Aberdeen Central 6 assists (Taryn Nieman 3 assists, Taryn Hermansen 2 assists).
