HURON – Aberdeen Christian split a pair of matches during the James Valley Christian Invitational Volleyball Tournament on Saturday capping a demanding 12-day stretch of action.
The Knights swept past Freeman Academy Marion 25-19, 25-16, 25-17 and fell to host JVC 25-18, 23-25, 25-19, 25-23.
“The girls are definitely running on empty, but they kept fighting back,” said Christian coach Sara Powell.
The Knights have played as total of 11 matches in the past 12 days.
Jolie Fogarty led Christian with nine kills in the victory over FAM.
“Jolie had a great day of hitting,” Powell said, “so that was fun to see.”
Ari Johnson had a team-leading six aces in the win.
Johnson also had nine kills and Chloe Bosma eight in the setback to James Valley. Alexis Isakson led the Knights with 48 total digs in the two matches.
“We served and received well,” Powell said. “We have some things to work on in practice this week, but overall they did well.”
The Knights won’t get much rest from their busy schedule as they host Wilmot on Tuesday, travel to Faulkton on Thursday, and play in a tournament at Redfield on Saturday.
