A trio of area squads earned second-place positions during the preseason prep media basketball polls.

The Hamlin boys in Class A, the Castlewood boys in Class B, and the Sisseton girls in Class A are near the top of their respective classes and each garnered at least one first-place vote.

Sisseton received two first-place votes and is second behind Wagner in the Class A poll. Among the teams receiving votes are Hamlin, Florence-Henry, and Aberdeen Roncalli.

The Hamlin and Castlewood boys each received one first-place. Meanwhile, Sully Buttes is tied for fifth in the Class B girls’ poll with Castlewood receiving votes. Wolsey-Wessington is receiving a vote in Class B boys.

No less than six teams received a first-place vote in Class AA boys. Sioux Falls Jefferson is the top-rated team, while second-rated Sioux Falls Roosevelt had the most first-place votes with four.

Sioux Falls Christian tops the Class A boys’ poll and De Smet is the top squad in Class B boys.

O’Gorman is the top-rated team in Class AA girls, while Wall leads the pack in Class B girls.
