Kannas part of four wins for GPL at Brace-Hopfinger Relays

VOLGA - Sophie Kannas of Great Plains Lutheran won two individual events and ran on a pair of winning relays Tuesday at the Brace-Hopfinger Relays. Kannas won the 100-meter and 200-meter dashes, and ran on winning 400-meter and 800-meter relays for the Panthers. Three other GPL girls finished runner-up in events: Keturah Schluesener in the 200, Halle Bauer in both the 800-meter and 1,600-meter runs, and Katherine Prahl in the 300-meter intermediate hurdles. Castlewood's Gracie Haug won the shot put, Wolsey-Wessington's Kailyn Dorris won the javelin, and Hitchcock-Tulare's Emma Schneider won the long jump. On the boys' side, Zac VanMeeteren won the 200-meter dash and also ran on Hamlin's winning 400-meter relay team. Hamlin's Cristhian Rodriquez won the javelin. Erik Salmen of Hitchcock-Tulare won the discus. Hamlin’s Cristhian Rodriguez competes in the javelin last season at the South Dakota National Guard meet in Milbank.
