SIOUX FALLS - The Aberdeen Smittys dropped a 5-2 decision to Yankton before bouncing back for a 14-0 win over Sioux Falls Post 15 in American Legion baseball action Saturday during the Dakota Classic. The Smittys fell behind early when Yankton scored three runs in the bottom of the first inning. Aberdeen responded with single runs in the second and fourth inning as Zane Backous singled and scored on a passed ball in the second and produced an RBI single in the fourth. However, Yankton took control with a pair of runs in the fifth on the way to the victory. Easton Feser had two hits for Yankton, including a two-run home run in the first, and an RBI single in the fifth. Backous finished with three hits, and Phillip Zens added two for the Smittys, who had at least two runners on base in four different innings. Aberdeen rolled past Post 15 for the fifth time this season. The Smittys scored four runs in the first and eight runs in the third. Grant Beyer and Brendan Livermont
