Second-inning burst carries Circus past Mitchell

Aberdeen Circus Sports Bar exploded for eight runs in the second inning to help fuel an 11-5 Amateur baseball win over the Mitchell Aces on Saturday morning at Fossum Field.

Half of the runs came in on a grand slam home run to centerfield by Corey Harrell. Circus, which snapped a three-game slide with the victory, pieced together six of its nine hits in the pivotal frame.

Circus added two more runs in the sixth inning on Tyler Oliver’s base hit to help quell any Mitchell momentum after the visitors had scored three unanswered runs.

Harrell, Oliver, and Wolf’don Thorson each had two hits for Aberdeen. Harrell finished with four RBI, and Oliver drove in two. Both players also had doubles for Circus.

Hudson Borgan had three hits to lead Mitchell, which had 14 hits on the day.
