Final drive propels Minot State to football win over Northern

MINOT, N.D. – Minot State put together a six-minute scoring drive late in the fourth quarter to help secure a 17-14 win over Northern State in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference football Saturday afternoon.

The Beavers, 3-0 on the season, collected an NSU fumble near midfield with less than eight minutes remaining, and then possessed the ball until the game-winning field goal with 1:46 left. The Wolves were unable to pick up a first down on their last possession.

Quarterback Daniel Britt was a catalyst for Northern on offense, rushing for 110 yards and a 38-yard touchdown. He also passed for 84 yards and another TD, an 11-yard connection to Tanner Branson.

Jake Adams led the Wolves on defense with 20 tackles.

Northern, now 0-3 on the season, heads to Augustana for another NSIC contest on Saturday.
