BURNSVILLE, Minn. – The Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference has released the 2024 NSIC Soccer All-Conference teams with three Wolves honored for Northern State University. Megan Fastenau and Lauren Youngquist earned first team accolades, while Alexus Townsend was named to the second team.
Fastenau started all 18 games for the Wolves this season, leading the team with six goals and four assists. She scored 16 points and recorded three game winning goals. In total, the senior took 34 shots and 19 shots on goal. Fastenau tallied a season high two goals in the Wolves win over Minnesota Duluth. She ranked seventh in the NSIC in goals, fourth in game winning goals, eighth in points, and 13th in assists. The Aberdeen native closes out her career as a 4-time All-NSIC performer and back-to-back first team honoree.
Youngquist started all 18 games in her second season with the Wolves. She tallied three goals and two assists, scoring eight points as a defender. The sophomore finished the year second on the team with 1570 minutes played. In addition, Youngquist added 18 total shots, 11 of which were on frame. This marks the first All-Conference honor of her Northern State career.
Townsend started 15 of 17 games played for the Wolves this season, racking up 1,415 minutes of action. She held al 1.14 goals against average and .769 save percentage. In addition, the senior notched three shutouts and 60 saves. The Omaha native ranked ninth in the NSIC in goals against average and tenth in both shutouts per game and saves per game. The 2024 award marks the third NSIC All-Conference honor of her career.
