Pairings announced for state amateur tourneys

MITCHELL – Pairings were announced Sunday afternoon for the Class A and Class B State Amateur Baseball Tournaments.

In Class A action Aberdeen Circus Sports Bar takes on the Black Hills A’s at 5 p.m. Saturday in Brookings. The other half of that particular bracket includes the Yankton Tappers against the Renner Monarchs. The losers of those two games play at 11 a.m. Sunday and the winners meet at 1:30 p.m. Sunday. The finals for the tourney are set for Aug. 13-15 in Mitchell.

The Class B tourney runs Aug. 4-15 in Mitchell. Among the notable opening round games is a rematch of last year’s championship between Alexandria and Canova.

Contests featuring area teams include the tourney opener, Milbank Firechiefs vs. Platte at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday; Menno vs. Redfield Dairy Queen, at 11 a.m. Thursday; Plankinton Bankers vs. Clark Traders at 1 p.m. Thursday; and Redfield Pheasants vs. Colman at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday.
