A look back at some of the sports happenings during the week of Feb. 2-8, 2025:

Last year on Feb. 3, 2024: Former Northern State All-American Dakotah (Bullen) Popehn qualified for the Paris Olympics. The St. Francis (MN) native finished third in the women’s marathon at the Olympic trials in Orlando, FL.

10 years ago on Feb. 7, 2015: Presentation College inflated its $2.4 million Winter Dome on its Aberdeen campus for the first time. The Saints also have added the sports of competitive cheer and competitive dance for next fall.

20 years ago on Feb. 5, 2005: The Chicago Bulls activated former Tripp-Delmont and Iowa standout
Jared Reiner. He has appeared in three games for the Bulls this season.

30 years ago on Feb. 4, 1995: Second-ranked Redfield (13-1) defeated Mobridge 80-64 behind Jeff Christensen (25 points) and Drew Schaffer (20 points). Mobridge (9-4) got 27 points from Todd Schlekeway.

40 years ago on Feb. 2, 1985: Sunshine Bible beat Polo 61-47 in Polo behind a combined 41
points from Paul Johnson, Kevin Eggebraaten and Marty Wood. Polo got 12 points from Kevin
Schlechter.

50 years ago on Feb. 2, 1975: Aberdeen Roncalli defeated Redfield 88-52 behind Harley Zephier (25 points), Cary Hornaman (25 points) and Kent Clausen (18 points and 13 rebounds). Gerald Nuhsbaumer had 14 points and 13 rebounds for the Pheasants.
