State Amateur tourney features tight races

The South Dakota Golf Association State Amateur Tournament could feature some dramatic finishes when play resumes on Sunday at Moccasin Creek Country Club.

There is a tie for first in the Women’s Division following the second round on Saturday. Lani Potter, who plays collegiately at South Dakota State, and Alex Kandolin of Rapid City, are tied for first with two-round totals of 2-over 146. Potter shot a 70 on Saturday following a 76 on Friday, Kandolin was just the opposite, carding a 70 on Friday and then a 76 on Saturday.

Defending State A champion Reese Jansa of Sioux Falls is one shot off the pace following rounds of 73 and 74.

The Men’s Division is also tight as Will Grevlos of Sioux Falls has a one shot lead after back-to-back rounds of 70 for a 4-under total of 140. Liam Georgiadis of Brookings is one back after rounds of 72 and 69, while Brodie Hullinger, also of Brookings, is two shots off the pace after he shot a 68 on Saturday.

The tournament concludes today.
