With a defense focused on the inside, Aberdeen Central went outside to fuel a victory at Golden Eagles Arena Friday night.
The Golden Eagles shot of 8 of 13 from 3-point range and rolled to a 57-26 Eastern South Dakota Conference girls' basketball win over Brookings.
"I think the girls shot the ball really well," said Central coach Paiton Burckhard, "and that’s just a testament to their confidence."
Ava Yeske nailed back-to-back 3-pointers in the first few minutes of the game and the Golden Eagles never looked back.
"I think they really hugged down the post a lot," Yeske said, "so it opened up the outside."
Soon, Yeske was joined by Emma Dohrer and Lauryn Burckhard who also made three-point field goals in the opening quarter and the Golden Eagles were off and running.
"We just knew we had to move the ball quick, because their zone is pretty good," Yeske said. "I think we did that, opened up shots on the outside."
