Cougars rally past Huron with big third period

HURON – The Aberdeen Cougars saved their best for last to grab a last-minute 5-4 win over the Huron All-Stars in boys’ hockey action Friday night.

The Cougars capped off a three-goal third period with a game-winning goal by Lleyton Kleffman with 57 seconds remaining.

Huron had taken a 3-1 lead into the final period, before Aberdeen’s offense came to life.

Devon Fischbach scored three minutes into the period before the hosts regained a two-goal advantage, setting the stage for the dramatic finish.

Trayke Roehrich cut the deficit to one with 8:32 left, Briggs Medill tied the contest with 3:20 remaining, and Kleffman found the back of the for the game-winner in the final minute.

Wheeler Malsam had Aberdeen’s other goal.

The Cougars conclude the regular season with a game at Mitchell today.
