After months of practice and preparation, the postseason has arrived for Class A boys’ basketball teams across the state.

Region action gets underway Tuesday with teams battling for spots in next week’s SoDak 16. Two squads from each region will comprise the SoDak 16 with the winners of those games clinching a berth in State A Tournament in Sioux Falls.

Here is a capsule look at each area region:

Region 1A

Tuesday and Friday at Roncalli, Britton and Groton

Groton is the only team well above .500 in this region. The Tigers played a potent schedule against some of the state’s elite Class A teams.

Groton will have a bye and home-court advantage for its only game this week.

The real battle should come in the other half of the draw where Roncalli could potentially face Milbank in the semifinals. The Bulldogs won a previous matchup, but the Cavaliers would have home court this time.

Region 2A

Tuesday and Friday at highest seeds

This region is loaded with each of the seven squads at least .500 or better.

Defending state champion Hamlin has had another stellar season and will be hard to stop. Expect the Chargers to make a deep postseason run.

Clark-Willow Lake and Deuel could potentially meet in the semifinals. CWL won a previous matchup by 15 points and would be favored with home court this time around.

Region 6A

Tuesday and Friday at highest seeds

Things could get very interesting in this region.

Cheyenne-Eagle Butte and Stanley County are the top seeds, but don’t count out Mobridge-Pollock, Platte-Geddes or Miller, who play tough schedules.

Mobridge-Pollock, which beat CEB earlier this season, just lost to Stanley County by five points. The winner of the PG and Miller game would provide a challenge for CEB. The Black Panthers edged Miller by three points in an earlier matchup.
