RAPID CITY – The Aberdeen Central girls soccer program had little trouble dispatching its second opponent in as many days Saturday, knocking off Douglas/Rapid City Christian 10-0 to complete the Golden Eagles’ two-day season-opening trip through the Black Hills.

Central scored six goals in the first half, including four in the game’s first 25 minutes of play and cruised to the win.

“We were playing a team that’s young and inexperienced,” said Central coach Merle Aske. “They’re on the opposite end of the spectrum of where we are in that regard.”

Still, Aske said it was important to take the game seriously, and he was pleased with his team’s attention to detail.

“The girls did a good job of going after it,” he said. “We were going on grass again, so the ball was a little slower, but we moved the ball around and did a lot of good things.”

Deshani Peters, Lauren Joosten and Morgan Fiedler all had two goals apiece for the Golden Eagles.
Taryn Hettich, Madison Gillen, Ivy Schanzenbach and Madison Hochstetter combined for the remaining four goals on the board.

Central returns to action Thursday, facing Sioux Falls Jefferson — the newest team in the state — in Sioux Falls. The Golden Eagles open their home slate Saturday, hosting Brookings at noon.
