Golden Eagles drop road contest to Pierre

PIERRE – Pierre exploded for 16 runs over two innings on the way to a 16-0 Eastern South Dakota Conference softball victory over Aberdeen Central on Tuesday.

The Governors plated six runs in the bottom of the first inning after an out was recorded. The hosts had four hits, and took advantage of a three errors and a hit batter.

Pierre then scored 10 runs in the second frame, again after a lead-off out. The Governors had five hits, including a double and a triple, had a walk and a hit batter, combined with more Central errors.

The Golden Eagles are gearing up for their biggest homestand of the season this weekend. Central will host Rapid City Central at 1:30 p.m. and Rapid City Stevens at 6:30 p.m. on Friday at Koehler Hall of Fame Field, before hosting Sturgis at 11 a.m., and Spearfish at 2 p.m. on Saturday

“We are looking forward to the weekend,” said Central coach Cassidy Neer.
