Class A track and field leaders

The northeast part of the state features some of the top sprinters in Class A this season as half of the leaders hail from the same area.

Oliver Fieber of Deuel tops the 100-meter dash, with Hamlin’s Zac VanMeeteren second, Micah Holien of Great Plains Lutheran third, and Groton’s Keegen Tracy sixth.

The same foursome can be found in the 200-meter dash. VanMeeteren leads that event, with Fieber in second, Holien in third, and Tracy in seventh.

In the 400-meter dash VanMeeteren is second and Holien is fifth.

That area also has produced a good share of the top hurdles times so far this spring.

In the 110-meter high hurdles Emmet Hanson of Milbank is second, Gabe Sather of Deuel is fifth, Miller’s Isaak Hunter is sixth, Harley Zemlicka of Milbank is seventh, and Graham Lightfield of Milbank is eighth.

In the 300-meter intermediate hurdles Hanson is fourth, Sather sixth, and Hunter is seventh.

Elsewhere Lucas Johnson of Great Plains Lutheran tops the high jump with a leap of 6-feet 7-inches.

Other area individual leaders include Michael Severson of Clark-Willow Lake who is fourth in the shot put, Tate Everson of Hamlin who is fourth in the discus, Byrton Blauert of Milbank who is third in the pole vault, Isaac Price of Aberdeen Roncalli who is eighth in the pole vault, and Hessel Andringa of Great Plains Lutheran who is fifth in the triple jump followed by Milbank’s Sam Rick in sixth.

In relays, Deuel is second in the 800 and fourth in the 400, Great Plains Lutheran is fourth in the sprint medley and eighth in the 1,600, while Groton is sixth in the sprint medley and seventh in the 3,200.

In the girls’ division three area girls are among the top five in various categories.

Addison of Byer of Florence-Henry is fifth in the 400-meter dash, Sarah Zubke of Webster is fifth in the high jump, and Jacy Dexter of Milbank is fifth in the pole vault.

Other area individual leaders include Sidney Johnson of Sisseton who is sixth in the javelin, Katie Braun of Webster who is eighth in the discus, and Roncalli’s Gabby Thomas who is eighth in the triple jump.

In relays, Groton is fourth in the 1,600, fifth in the 3,200, and seventh in the 400, Clark-Willow Lake is fifth in the 1,600 followed by Milbank in sixth, and Clark-Willow Lake is eighth in the 800.
