Bemidji answered back in the bottom of the second to tie the game. Friedges broke the tie in the next inning with a three-run home run blast, which ended up producing the game-winning runs for the Wolves. The Beavers notched one more run in the bottom of the seventh, but that wasn’t enough as Braxton Kusler earned his second win of his freshman campaign, with Dalton Vanderloo recording the save.

In game two, it was Bemidji which struck first in the first inning before extending its lead to two in the third. The Beavers added on to their lead with three more runs to have a 6-0 lead in the fifth. The Wolves started a comeback in the seventh inning with a Friedges solo home run. In the eighth AJ Mendez scored on a sac fly from Castellanos to cut the lead down to four, setting the stage for a dramatic finish.

In NSU’s final at-bat, Mendez brought in Jack Weidner, followed by a single from Phillips scoring Dylan Soulek for a 6-4 score. Castellanos came up to the plate with the bases loaded and two outs and hit a grand slam home run to win the game for the Wolves.
