Welcome to SD SportScene. This site was established to shine the spotlight on athletes in the northeast part of South Dakota, although it will encompass much more than that. The goal is to bring you, the reader, the most up to date and in-depth coverage possible. That said, there will certainly be limitations.

For starters, this is for the most part a two-person operation. I will be writing, compiling and posting stories, stats and columns. I have hired long-time co-worker John Davis as an free-lance photographer. His photos speak for themselves. He will provide top-notch sports photos from a variety of events on a regular basis. He may even write some columns for this site.

As for me, I don’t plan on spending the rest of my life in gymnasiums, although the thought does somewhat appeal to me. I will be at various contests, but there is no way one person can be in four different places at one time. However, that does not mean the coverage will be any less. I plan on doing short game stories every time an Aberdeen high school team competes, whether I am there in person or not. A daunting task, no doubt, but I will rely on coaches to help supply the information that is needed.

The site will also provide coverage of Northern State, Presentation College and the Wings, although maybe in a more modified format. I fully anticipate that as the site expands, so will the coverage. For starters, I would rather under promise and over deliver, than over promise and under deliver.

I ask for your patience as we begin this endeavor. There are bound to be glitches, oversites and errors. We will do our absolute best to prevent that from happening.

The plan is to publish new content 4-5 days per week depending on the time of the year and the number of events taking place. We hope to produce stories and photos that you will not receive anywhere else.

I want to thank everyone, from businesses to subscribers, who have already committed to this site. Your support has been overwhelming. The ultimate goal behind this whole endeavor is to provide the coverage that athletes, coaches, and fans are searching for. This will be a work in progress, but with God’s help, we will do our best to ensure that SD SportScene will be a trusted source for local sports.
